Francis’ nightly fishing effort from the “sugar scoop”, (a boarding / dive platform at the extreme stern of the boat) produced progressively larger catches. On the night he caught a young shark he decided to scale back on the size of hooks he used. After an adrenaline-filled effort we managed to remove the hook and allowed the powerful animal to spring back into the water.

Later that same night when a flying fish landed on the deck, nearly colliding with him, Francis respectfully returned it to the sea.
